INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's tennis team will have a busy weekend ahead of them, playing three dual matches in three days, beginning with a Friday event (Feb. 17) against Cleveland State at West Indy Racquet Club. That dual will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Indy. From there, the Jags will trek south to play Austin Peay on Saturday (Feb. 18), followed by a Sunday (Feb. 19) matchup with Belmont.
The Jaguars (3-5) snapped a three-match skid with an emphatic 6-1 win over Eastern Illinois. IUPUI has been keyed by the bottom of the lineup for the bulk of the spring season with both
Marcus Nalley and
Bradley Luetschwager both owning a 5-2 mark in duals. Nalley enters the weekend with a team-high five-match winning streak and
David Beasley is 4-4 this spring and won his last two matches.
Doubles play has been a struggle in the season's early going as Beasley and Luetschwager have been the squad's top duo at 3-4 on the year at the No. 1 spot. Nalley and freshman
Steven Christie have a combined 2-0 mark at No. 3 doubles.
Cleveland State enters the weekend at 4-2 overall, led by Nico Mostardi's 3-2 mark at No. 1 singles. Austin Peay is 7-11 during the spring while Manuel Montenegro is 9-9 in singles play. Belmont enters this weekend with a 4-3 mark, paced by Bruno Russo's 5-1 singles mark.
