WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IUPUI men's tennis team finished up their fall season over the weekend competing at the Old Gold & Black Classic at Purdue University. The Jags grabbed five match wins over the course of the competition.
The event was a four-team round robin event featuring IUPUI, Ball State, Butler and host Purdue. The Jags took the court first for four matches against Purdue on Friday night and junior
Grant Weaver picked up a win for the Jags beating Purdue's Hanayama 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
On Saturday, IUPUI played four matches against Ball State and four against Butler. Against the Cardinals, junior
Grant Esposito beat Muhiga 7-5, 6-2 and classmate
Kyle Whittaker beat Weise 7-5, 2-6, 7-6.
Later in the day Weaver picked up the Jags lone win against Butler, beating Cazier, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
In the doubles competition on Sunday, IUPUI grabbed one match win with the team of Whittaker and Esposito beating Butler's team of Mag and Adelakun 8-1.
