BROOKINGS, S.D. - The IUPUI men's tennis team will be on the road this week for a pair of Summit League matches, beginning at South Dakota State on Friday (Apr. 8). The Jags will then cap the weekend at Omaha on Saturday (Apr. 9).
IUPUI enters the weekend at 2-0 in Summit League play while South Dakota State is 1-2 and Omaha is 1-1.
The Jaguars have endured a meat grinder of a schedule, but have gotten stronger as the season's progressed, winning half of their last 10 duals. IUPUI already has league wins over Western Illinois and Oral Roberts, both having come at home.
Both
Jac Newis and Bradley Leutschwager are 2-0 in singles play in Summit League matches while seven different Jags have at least one singles win in league action. Leutschwager and
Kyle Whittaker are 2-0 as a doubles team in league play and IUPUI is 5-1 as a team in six doubles matches.
Junior
Akshay Verma comes in riding a three-game singles winning streak, primarily at No. 4 singles. He and
David Beasley have won four straight doubles matches and are a combined 9-7 on the season.
Patrick McAuley and
Matt Moe have a team-high 10 doubles triumphs, all coming at No. 3.
Friday's match at SDSU is slated for noon while Saturday's match will begin at 10:00 a.m. Central.
