MEN'S TENNIS EYES ORAL ROBERTS IN SUMMIT LEAGUE SEMIFINAL

IUPUI holds the No. 2 seed and will face off with 3-seeded ORU on Friday (Apr. 29).

Summit League Championship Central I Bracket (.pdf) I Live Results

OMAHA, Neb. - The IUPUI men's tennis team started the month of April with a key 4-3 win over Oral Roberts at home. The Jags look to close the month with a similar result as they face ORU in the first round of the Summit League Tournament in Omaha, Neb. this Friday (Apr. 29).

The Jags (10-19, 4-1 Summit) have won four of their six matches this month with the only two losses coming to tough squads in Ball State and Denver. They've been a lot to handle for opposing Summit League teams as a 4-1 record helped the Jags claim the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

The combo of sophomore David Beasley and junior Akshay Verma have been solid doubles points as of late, registering six wins in their last eight doubles pairings. Verma has been on a mission in singles play as well, capturing six of his last seven singles points including a crucial three-set point last time around against ORU.

Beasley and Verma are the only Summit League duo with double digit wins (10) at the No. 2 doubles position. Freshman Patrick McCauley and sophomore Matt Moe are just one of two duos with double digit wins (10) at No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore Bradley Luetschwager has been a struggle for opponents as well. He's won six of his last 10 while taking opponents to three sets in two of those losses. He cruised to a singles win against ORU earlier this month (6-2, 6-0) while also snagging a point alongside freshman Kyle Whittaker in doubles (6-1).

Friday's (Apr. 29) semi-final match is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) in Omaha, Neb. at Koch Family Tennis Center. Should IUPUI win Friday, they'll face the winner of Denver and Omaha in the Summit League Final on Saturday (Apr. 30). The winner of the four-team tournament will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
