INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's tennis team will return home to host Oral Roberts at West Indy Racquet Club on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. in a key Summit League match. The Jaguars are 6-17 overall and 1-0 in Summit League play while ORU comes in at 10-8 overall and 2-0 in The Summit.
Both schools have league wins over Western Illinois while ORU also collected a 4-3 triumph over South Dakota State.
IUPUI has been strong of late, winning three straight before back-to-back losses to Butler and at Northwestern. The doubles duo of
Patrick McAuley and
Matt Moe highlighted the 4-0 defeat at Northwestern, cruising to a 6-0 victory at the No. 3 spot. Against Butler,
David Beasley and
Bradley Luetschwager earned singles wins in a 5-2 loss.
For the year, Beasley has a team-high 12 singles wins, six coming this spring at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
Marcus Nalley has six spring singles victories and both McAuley and
Jose Calero have five apiece. McAuley and Moe have become the Jaguars' most dependable doubles tandem, going 9-9 at the No. 3 spot. Beasley and
Akshay Verma are a combined 7-7 at No. 2 doubles while the top spot has been more problematic. Luetschwager and
Kyle Whittaker have teamed for five wins at the No. 1 position.
ORU won last year's meeting between the two schools, 5-2 in Tulsa. Meanwhile, IUPUI is 2-3 at home this season with victories over Chicago State and Cardinal Stritch.
