CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IUPUI women's golf team is squarely in the hunt after an opening round 307 at the Saluki Invitational on Easter Sunday (Mar. 27), with a final round scheduled for Monday morning. Host Southern Illinois leads the 15-team field at 303 and is followed by Austin Peay (304), William Woods (304) and SIU's 'B' team (306).

Juniors MeKenzie Hilsmeyer and Erin Ingram are among the tournament's top-10 after 18 holes, carding 74 and 75, respectively. Hilsmeyer had a team-high three birdies while Ingram made two birdies and 13 pars on Sunday.

"I was happy with how I played and finished today," Hilsmeyer said. "I've been working on my confidence and it felt great to hold a round together. There's a big field here with some teams in our conference. It's good to see how we stack up compared to them. All of us girls feel like we left some shots out there. We are excited to get back out tomorrow to make up those shots and try to win the tournament."

Sophomore Aneta Abrahamova carded a first round 76, including a pair of birdies. The Jaguars' depth was tested though as Lindsey Budnik missed the tournament due to injury and Sara Saetre was unavailable due to an academic obligation. Freshman Lindsey Hackleman responded with a first round 82 and Elizabeth Orr carded a 94. Sophomore Nicole Toledano posted an 84 while playing as an individual.

South Dakota's Brenna Lervick and SIUE's Alison Gorman are tied atop the leaderboard at 1-under 71 while Hilsmeyer is one of five players tied for third at 2-over. Ingram is one of four players tied for eighth at 3-over 75.

Monday's final round will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
