FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IUPUI softball team hits the road for the first time in Summit League play this weekend when it heads to Fort Wayne, Ind., for a three-game series against Fort Wayne.
The series begins with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m., and the finale will also be played at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.
The Jags just finished their 11-game homestand going 7-4 at home to improve to 21-10 overall. Of those 11 contests, six games were Summit League match-ups and the Jaguars split those going 3-3.
IPFW comes into the weekend match-up with a 1-28 mark, which includes a 1-5 record in conference play.
Thanks in part to hitting seven home runs in a doubleheader sweep over Valparaiso on Friday, the Jaguars have now hit 39 home runs this season, which sits just nine off last season's D-I record of 48. Against the Crusaders,
Ali Mosier and
Eryn Dillon each hit three homers boosting their season totals to nine and six, respectively, with Mosier's nine equaling
Roni Patterson for the team and Summit League lead. Patterson leads the way with 25 RBI followed by Dillon and Mosier with 24 each, and the trio has accounted for just over 50 percent of the team's run production this season.
In the circle,
Brooke Boetjer holds the top ERA of the group at 1.97, but she is followed closely by
Emili Escamilla's 2.19 ERA. Boetjer's two wins against Valparaiso moved her team-leading win total to 15, which is second in the league behind Krista Menke's 19.
