INDIANAPOLIS – Winners of five straight games, the IUPUI softball team returns home for the final time this season when it hosts Omaha in a three-game Summit League series beginning on Friday, April 24.
The Jaguars and Mavericks will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at Noon, and the series finale will take place on Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. ET. Saturday will also serve as Senior Day for the Jags as its three seniors -
Megan Cory,
Eryn Dillon and
Emili Escamilla - will be honored prior to the start of the game.
With its most recent win on Tuesday at Indiana State, IUPUI recorded its Division-I era record 28th win of the season. In the victory, the Jags trailed 3-0 before scoring 10 unanswered runs to notch the win. The bottom five of the order went 11-for-19 with eight RBI, highlighted by 3-for-4 performances from Cory and
Delilah Wright.
Brooke Boetjer picked up her 17th win of the season going 5.0 innings, while
Lily Del Toro finished things off pitching 2.0 innings of no-hit relief.
Additionally, in Tuesday's win Dillon hit a home run, her ninth of the season, which gave the Jaguars a new school-record 49 home runs surpassing last year's record of 48. Dillon boosted her team-leading RBI total to 36 with the home run, while
Ali Mosier still leads the way with 12.
Omaha enters the weekend with a 20-24 overall record and a 5-6 conference record. The Mavericks are hitting .252 on the season led by Allie Mathewson's .310 average. Mathewson also has a team-best 10 home runs, while Lizzie Noble has driven in 32 runs.
