MACOMB, Ill. - The IUPUI men's golf team will make its final preparations ahead of the 2015 Summit League Championships when the Jaguars play this week's 43rd annual Beu/Mussatto Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,862 yard Harry Mussatto Golf Course with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. Eastern on Monday (Apr. 20). Teams will play two rounds on Monday and a final round on Tuesday (Apr. 21) beginning at 8:30 a.m..
This year's field will consist of Western Illinois (Purple & Gold), Bradley, Cardinal Stritch, Indian Hills C.C., North Dakota State, Omaha, St. Ambrose and William Woods.
The Jaguars will be accompanied this week by Associate Head Coach
Colby Huffman while Head Coach
John Andrews is in California with the women's squad. Huffman's lineup will consist of seniors
Derek Rohlfing,
Jose Pablo Segurola and
Santiago Ruiz and juniors
Austin Winings and
Rylan Porter. Additionally, junior
Tyler Davis will play as an individual.
Porter has been IUPUI's top player for much of the season, leading the Jaguars with a 73.78 scoring average in his 18 rounds. Segurola, the reigning Summit League Player of the Week, has played a team-high 25 rounds, registering a 74.60 stroke average and a tournament win. Winings is third on the squad at 75.79 and Rohlfing is fourth at 75.86.
Ruiz rounds out the top five at 76.32 and Davis checks in at 78.00.
IUPUI finished tied for third of 13 teams at this event last season, firing a 54-hole 921 (301-314-306). Porter and Segurola topped the Jaguars' returners at 232, both finishing tied for 15th. Winings also played this tournament a season ago, shooting 234. Ruiz is a former medalist at this event, having won by a single stroke in 2013 after shooting 217 (73-74-70). It was the first of his three career tournament wins.
