JAGS CONTINUE HOMESTAND WITH MID-WEEK GAMES VS. UIC AND BUTLER

IUPUI hosts UIC in a Tuesday (March 24) doubleheader and Butler in a single game on Wednesday

3/23/2015 12:50:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – An 11-game homestand continues this week when the IUPUI softball team welcomes UIC and Butler to the IUPUI Softball Complex for mid-week non-conference action.

The Jags are set to host the Flames in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24, beginning at 3 p.m., before taking on the Bulldogs on Wednesday, March 25, at 4 p.m.

The Jaguars are coming off a Summit League series win over South Dakota State this past weekend to improve their record to 16-7 overall and 2-1 in the conference. UIC is 9-12 heading into the week, while Butler sits at 14-11 overall after winning five of its last six games.

During its first home series of the season last weekend against SDSU, the Jags were led by Emili Escamilla who shut down the Jackrabbits offense in the final two games of the series. Escamilla went 15.0 total innings on the weekend, struck out 18 – including a career-high tying 11 in the extra-inning series finale win – and yielded just two runs as she improved to 5-1 on the season.

Offensively, Morgan Schlobohm and Eryn Dillon led the way with six hits and five hits, respectively, in the three game set, and the duo combined for the game-winning run in Sunday's win with Schlobohm scoring the winning run on a walk-off sacrifice fly from Dillon.

Fans are encouraged to park in the Vermont St. Garage, which is connected to the IUPUI Campus Center.

Also, with rain in the forecast for the Indianapolis area for the next two days, please check back with IUPUIJags.com for updates on possible cancellations or postponements.
