COLUMBIA, Mo. – The IUPUI women's tennis team picked up a singles win from
Marina Schneiger, but that would be the only point for the Jaguars as they closed out their weekend with a 6-1 loss to Missouri State at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
IUPUI fell to 1-4 on the season with the loss, while the Bears improved to 1-2.
The Bears were able to capture the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, and those close wins would prove to be crucial as IUPUI's top doubles tandem of
Valeriia Lavrenchuk and
Samantha Mayer claimed a 7-6 win.
In singles play, Missouri State earned two wins to move within a point of the win before Schneiger extended things with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the bottom of the lineup.
Unfortunately, the Bears clinched the match with a straight-sets win at No. 1 spot. Both
Bobbi Modesto and Mayer had their matches decided in third sets, but both lost those sets by 7-5 scores finishing off the 6-1 win for the Bears.
Up next for the Jags is a trip to Valparaiso, Ind., Feb. 14-15, when it will take on the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday, Feb. 14, before beginning Summit League play on Sunday, Feb. 15, against Omaha.
