INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's tennis team kicked off its 2015 Spring season Friday night looking to start the season with a win, but Cleveland State claimed the doubles point and then managed five singles wins to claim a 6-1 win over the Jaguars.

Friday's match was the season opener for both teams, resulting in the Jags falling to 0-1 and CSU improving to 1-0.

At the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, the Vikings cruised to 6-1 and 6-2 wins to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 cushion.

In singles action, the lone win came at the No. 5 position with David Beasley claiming a 6-7, 7-6 win. Outside of Beasley's win, the Jags had two other matches go three sets only to have Cleveland State emerge victorious.

Both Thomas Gans and Adam Reinhart went to third-set tiebreakers after overcoming first-set defeats, but unfortunately both of their opponents won the critical points to seize the wins.

The Jaguars return to action on Saturday, Jan. 17, when they take on Dayton at the West Indy Racquet Club at 5:30 p.m.
