INDIANAPOLIS – Six seniors played their final home game on Saturday afternoon at the IUPUI Softball Complex and while they had their sights set on winning their final game at home, IPFW proved to be too much as it defeated the Jags, 4-0.

With the loss, the Jags finished at 22-22 overall and 7-10 in The Summit League, and they will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament that will be played in Fargo, N.D., May 7-10. Fort Wayne finished the regular season at 38-13 overall and 13-4 in the conference, and they will be the No. 2 seed in next week's tournament.

All six of IUPUI's seniors - Angela Bartucci, Lauren Cooper, Jessica Lam, Jocelyn Oppenhuis, Lindsey Richards and Nikki Thomas - were recognized prior to the game for their contributions to the program. As a senior class, they led the Jags to their first 20-win campaign since the 2005 season with 22 victories so far this season.

Oppenhuis got the start for the Jags in the circle and held the Mastodons scoreless for the first two innings before Alex Bousquet hit a solo homer to center field in the third to put IPFW in front, 1-0.

Meanwhile, a day after giving up just one hit to the Jaguars, Miranda Kramer picked up where she left off. Kramer ran into a little bit of trouble in the second after Sarah Lawrence tripled with one out to give the Jags their best chance to score in two days off the lefty, but back-to-back strikeouts for Kramer – her fourth and fifth of the day – kept the Jags off the scoreboard.

Still trailing by one in the fourth, the Jags had another opportunity to strike after Roni Patterson drew a one-out walk and stole second base. Similar to the second inning, however, consecutive strikeouts left Patterson stranded on second.

The Mastodons tacked two runs on to their lead in the fifth, one of which coming on Bousquet's second solo homer of the game, before adding another one in the sixth to move the lead to 4-0.

In the sixth and seventh innings, IUPUI went down in order closing out the 4-0 win for the Mastodons.

Oppenhuis went 4.1 innings giving up five hits and two runs while striking out four, and Thomas pitched 2.2 innings of relief giving up two runs on two hits and four walks, while striking out three.

For the second straight day, Kramer struck out 15 and yielded one hit as she picked up her 19th win of the season.

The Jags now shift their focus to the upcoming Summit League Tournament in Fargo, N.D. Seeds and game times will be released when announced.
