KELLER, Texas - Senior Rob van de Vin earned his first career tournament win, finishing at 3-over 219 (72-70-77) at this week's Summit League Championships, played at the par-72 Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club. Unfortunately, the he and his teammates squandered an eight-stroke lead on the day final day and fell second to Denver by five shots.

Denver, the No. 1 seed entering play, finished the tournament at 898 while IUPUI closed at 903. It's IUPUI's fourth runner-up finish at the league tournament to go along with three Summit League titles.

van de Vin became the fourth IUPUI player to win the league championship, joining Chad Stoute (2002), Michael Powell (2011) and Michael Davan (2012). He will learn his postseason fate on May 5 on the Golf Channel's Morning Drive between 10-11:00 a.m..

After back-to-back 296's put the Jaguars in prime position to capture the program's fourth Summit League crown, a final round 311 derailed postseason aspirations. Junior Jose Pablo Segurola led the Jaguars' lineup at 3-over 75 on Wednesday (Apr. 23), including a key birdie on the final hole. Junior Derek Rohlfing and van de Vin both shot final round 77's, marking their highest numbers of the tournament. Rohlfing was 1-under through eight on Wednesday after making birdies on Nos. 3 and 7, but got sidetracked with back-to-back sixes on 14 and 15.

The typically steady Santiago Ruiz carded a final round 82 and Rylan Porter shot 83. Ruiz made a pair of birdies in his final round, but was unable to dodge big numbers with three double bogeys on his scorecard. Porter was 3-over at the turn but had a bad five-hole stretch push him from 3-over to 12-over.

The Denver trio of Ole Ramsnes, Victor Doka and Patrick Frodigh all finished the tournament at 12-over 224, tied for third overall. They joined van de Vin and Fort Wayne's Jacob Groninger on the All-Tournament Team.

Rohlfing finished tied for seventh among the 40-player field at 227 (74-76-77) and Segurola and Porter both finished tied for 12th at 230. Segurola's final round 75 was his best of the 54-hole event.
