MACOMB, Ill. - The IUPUI men's golf team is in the hunt for a title after day one of the 42nd annual Beu/Mussatto Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course this week. IUPUI shot 615 (301-314) on Monday (Mar. 31) and is six shots back of leader Bradley (609) heading into Tuesday's final round. 

Summit League foe South Dakota is second at 613, two shots ahead of the Jaguars. Valparaiso (618) and South Dakota State (620) are fourth and fifth among the 13-team field. 

IUPUI made a tournament best 24 birdies on a day in which scoring chances were available. 

Senior Rob van de Vin led the way on Monday, finishing at 8-over 152 (72-80), fueled largely by his first round, even par 72. The Netherlands-native is tied for sixth among the 83-player field. Sophomore Rylan Porter carded back-to-back 77's and is tied for 12th at 154, along with teammate Austin Winings. Winings went 76-78 on Monday. 

Senior Jose Pablo Segurola is tied for 20th overall at 156 (76-80) and Cole Adams shot 165 (86-79). Sophomore Jay Holderman closed at 165 (85-80) while playing as an individual. 

South Dakota's Samuel Matthew is atop the leaderboard at 1-over 145 (71-74).
