Jags and Phoenix play a Monday doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, March 31, the IUPUI softball team closes out its brief homestand when it welcomes Wisconsin-Green Bay to the IUPUI Softball Complex for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

The Jags are coming off a doubleheader loss to North Dakota State on Saturday, which snapped their three-game losing streak. Their series finale against the Bison was cancelled due to poor field conditions and heavy rain in the Indianapolis area on Saturday.

The Jags offense struggled last weekend against NDSU and its team batting average dropped 10 points to .293 following the pair of losses. Taylor Chitwood is the team's only hitter boasting an average above .400 at .417, but she leads a group of six IUPUI hitters that own averages over .300.

Green Bay owns a 10-4 record prior to playing a Horizon League doubleheader against Wright State on Sunday. Marissa Michalkiewic leads the squad with two homers, 17 RBI and a .362 average. UWGB has only scored 48 runs in 14 games, but its pitching staff has been impressive owning a collectively 2.41 ERA.

Lauren Danner has been the best of the bunch with a 0.95 ERA in 14.2 innings of work, but all four pitchers have ERA's below 3.80. Of the 14 starts made by Phoenix pitchers, Green Bay starters have went the distance in nine of those starts.
