SOFTBALL HEADS TO DAYTON FOR MIDWEEK DOUBLEHEADER

Jags and Flyers will play two games on Wednesday after having games cancelled earlier this month

DAYTON, Ohio – During the first half of the month of March, the IUPUI softball team had a pair of games at Dayton canceled due to inclement weather, but the Jags and Flyers will make those games up on Wednesday, March 26, when IUPUI travels to Dayton for a doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the UD Softball Stadium.

IUPUI is coming off a dramatic 14-13 come-from-behind win over Western Illinois on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Leathernecks. The Jags trailed 12-4 entering the bottom of the fifth before scoring 10 runs in the frame to go in front, 14-12. IUPUI eventually held on for the 14-13 win, and both Angela Bartucci and Ali Mosier drove in four runs to lead the charge.

"You never want to get down like we did the other day, but coming back from a deficit like that can turn a season around," head coach Amanda Rivera said. "While we hope we are not in that situation again, it gives us confidence that we can come back from any deficit to earn a win."

Ali Mosier is coming off a weekend where she hit .700 in the series against WIU, with four of her seven hits going for extra bases. She registered one home run, four RBI and a stolen base as her average improved to .328 and her team-leading RBI total improved to 19.

Following a strong weekend, Taylor Chitwood leads IUPUI with a .455 average in limited at-bats followed by Sarah Lawrence's .412 clip.

The Flyers come into the mid-week doubleheader with a 10-14 overall record and they are led offensively by Rachel Archer and her .413 batting average. Tiffany Ricks is the leading run-producer for Dayton with five home runs and 22 RBI. In the circle, Dayton owns a 4.57 ERA.
