AVON, Ind. - IUPUI sophomore
Jay Holderman posted a first round 74 and is tied for ninth among the 43-player field as four members of the men's golf team are participating in the Butler Spring Invitational at Prestwick Country Club this week. Holderman made 14 pars on Monday, tying for second in the tournament after 18 holes.
Behind him, senior
Seth Robertson is just outside the top 10 after a first round 3-over 75, leaving him tied for 11th. Sophomore
Bryce Very is tied for 20th at 77 and
Tyler Davis is 36th at 11-over 83.
"It was a really good day for Jay and Seth," IUPUI Head Coach
John Andrews said. "Jay's continued to play well this spring. It's going to be hard to keep him out of the lineup; he's making it tough on me.
"It's good to see Seth play well after all he's been through. He's come a long way. He's a kid I really root for, given all he's experienced."
Robert Morris leads the team scoring at 3-over 291 and Indianapolis is second at 300. IUPUI is not included in team scoring this week while playing as individuals. RMU's Garrett Browning and Ball State's Tyler Ostrom are tied atop the leaderboard at 1-under 71.
Teams will return to action on Tuesday (Mar. 25) with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
