JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IUPUI men's golf team finished fifth of 12 teams at this week's Don Benbow Invitational, firing a final round 303 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club. IUPUI was second heading into Tuesday's final round after a first day 296 and ended the 36-hole tournament at 599 (296-303).Â
Junior
Jose Pablo Segurola earned his fourth top-five finish of the season, finished second overall at 2-under 142 (68-74). His 142 was the sixth-best 36-hole score in school history while his opening round 68 tied for the 14th best round in school history. It was Segurola's sixth top-10 finish of his collegiate career.Â
Evansville won the team title at 5-over 581 (293-288) while Florida Atlantic (584), Cleveland State (591), Drake (595) and IUPUI rounded out the top five (599).
Junior
Santiago Ruiz finished the tournament at 5-over 149 (74-75) and senior
Rob van de Vin closed at 151 (77-74).
Sophomores
Austin Winings and
Rylan Porter finished their spring debuts at 157 and 164, respectively. The Jaguars will return to action on Mar. 15-16 when they compete in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular at El Campeon Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.. The event is hosted annually by George Mason.
