FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The IUPUI men's golf team posted a final round 8-over 288 at The Doc Gimmler at the par-70, Bethpage Red Course on Sunday (Sept. 15), finishing 10th of 14 school competing. Yale won the tournament title with a 20-under 820 while fellow Ivy League foe Harvard finished at 4-under 836.
Yale's Joe Willis earned medalist honors at 11-under 199 (63-68-69).
Junior
Jose Pablo Segurola led IUPUI on the tournament's final day, shooting an even par 70 to finish at 2-over 212 (72-70-70). Segurola, who redshirted a year ago, has shot par or better in five of his six rounds to start the fall season.
Behind him, fellow junior
Santiago Ruiz turned in a final round 71 to also finish at 2-over 212 (69-72-71). Both Ruiz and Segurola finished tied for 25th among the 76-player field.
"I like that Jose and Santiago weren't pleased with their scores. I really like that about them," IUPUI Head Coach
John Andrews said. "They're two really competitive kids and they only continue to get better. They work really hard and are both eager to work on their games."
Sophomore
Austin Winings concluded at 5-over 215 (72-70-73) and fellow sophomore
Tyler Davis came in at 11-over 221 (73-74-74).
Senior
Rob van de Vin capped the Jaguars' lineup at 17-over 227 (74-78-75).
The Jaguars will return to action on Sept. 21-22 when they participate in the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind., hosted by Indiana.
