Box Score INDIANAPOLIS—The IUPUI softball team closed out the 2012-13 season with a 4-0 loss to Summit League opponent, Fort Wayne, Saturday afternoon at the IPFW Softball Field.

The Jaguars were held scoreless in its loss by Mastodons’ pitcher Miranda Kramer. Kramer allowed only three hits, two walks and struck out 13 in the circle. The win was Kramer’s 18th complete game and improved her record to 21-7 on the season.

IPFW scored the only two runs it would need to pull out the win in the first inning. Alex Bousquet led off the inning with a double down the right field line, followed by a Larissa Franklin bunt single to shortstop that moved Bousquet to third base.

After Franklin stole second base, Ashleigh Bousquet was hit-by-a-pitch to load up the bases with no outs. Dani Pugh followed with a ground ball to Schlobohm, who was able to stop the run with the force out at home, but the bases remained loaded with one out.

Hillary Kartman drove in the game-winning run with a fielder’s choice to second base, and Audrey Mintari followed with a sacrifice fly to shallow right field. Ali Mosier was able to make the catch, but her throw to home was just late as Ashleigh Bousquet tagged up on the play.

The Mastodons added two more insurance runs in the fourth off an Ashleigh Bousquet one-out single to right field.

After two innings of three-up, three-down for the Jags’ on offense, Jessica Lam hit a double to right field. With one out, shortstop Morgan Schlobohm reached base on a fielding error by the IPFW’s third baseman, Ashleigh Bousquet, and Lam moved to third on the error.

Schlobohm stole second during Kelsey Rupert’s at-bat to give the Jags runners on second and third with one out, but Kramer was able to close out the inning with two strikeouts.

In the fourth inning, IUPUI gave itself another chance to push runs across when Angela Bartucci and Megan Cory hit consecutive one-out singles, but again, Kramer was able to work out of the inning with two strikeouts.

Nikki Thomas took the loss in the circle for IUPUI. Thomas tossed four complete innings and allowed four runs on five hits, three walks, two hit batters and struck out two. The loss dropped Thomas to a final 2-7 on the season.

Nicole Natter came in the game in relief and closed out the final two innings. Natter gave up no runs and allowed only two hits and struck out two.

The loss concluded the Jags 2012-13 season with an 18-31 overall record and a seventh place finish in Summit League standings with a 7-16 record.
