INDIANAPOLIS— After torrential rains on Tuesday afternoon, the IUPUI and Eastern Illinois games have been rescheduled to be played at EIU in Charleston, Ill. on Wednesday (April 24).
The two teams will meet for a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 6 p.m. ET and the second game following approximately 30 minutes after.
Last season IUPUI and EIU met on two separate dates with IUPUI taking two of three games. EIU took the first game, 3-0, and the Jags swept the second meeting, 3-2 in 10 innings and 1-0.
With the game against UIC cancelled earlier in the week, IUPUI still stands at 17-25 overall and 7-13 in Summit League, while EIU enters the mid-week game 32-11 overall and is currently on a five game winning streak.
Alyssa Neff sits atop the Jaguars' lineup in batting average at .304, followed by #Ali Mosier (.302) and
Emili Escamilla (.300). Mosier, the regular starter of the trio, leads the team in stolen bases, snagging 19 in her 21 attempts. She continues to add consistency not only on offense but on defense as well. Mosier made a diving play up the middle and in the 4-3 whole that saved the Jags from falling farther behind in its two losses on Sunday (April 21) against UMKC.
Shortstop
Morgan Schlobohm's batting average continues to climb. Schlobohm is now sitting at .240 after going 8-for-27 in her last 10 games.
Jocelyn Oppenhuis continues to head the pitching staff although she took the 4-3 loss to UMKC in the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader to UMKC. Oppenhuis holds a 3.07 ERA and 5-9 record in her 21 appearances. Her 82 strikeouts are a staff high.
Nikki Thomas and
Cassie Vodde round up the top three of the Jags’ pitching staff with Thomas holding a 3.43 ERA and 2-6 record, while Vodde owns a 3.61 ERA and the Jags only winning record in the circle with seven wins and three losses.
Hannah Cole heads the Panthers’ lineup with a solid .431 batting average. Cole’s team 13 doubles, one triple and five homeruns have earned her a team-high slugging percentage of .662. Cole also owns a team-high .503 on-base percentage, and is second in walks with 14 and RBI with 33. Carly Willert (.354) is the only other EIU hitter notching a batting average above .300. Willert is also a perfect 8-8 in stolen bases and is second to Cole in doubles (11), slugging percentage (.521) and on-base percentage (.397).
Bailey O’Dell (.292) and Brooke Owens(.291) have also hit a team-high six homeruns each.
The EIU pitching staff owns a 1.53 ERA with Hanna Mennenga leading the staff with a 1.28 ERA and 21-4 record. Mennenga holds a staff-high 265 strikeouts in her 164.2 innings pitched with opponents batting only .155 off of her. Stephanie Maday is second to Mennenga with a 1.57 ERA and an 11-4 record. Maday has 103 strikeouts in her 111.2 innings pitched with opponents hitting only .195 against her.
Janele Robinson is the third member of the Panthers’ pitching staff with a 4.37 ERA and 0-3 record in only eight appearances.
