AUSTIN, Texas - The IUPUI women's golf team will make its first of two trips to the Lone Star State when the Jaguars participate in the upcoming Challenge at Onion Creek on Apr. 1-2. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Texas State, will take place at the par-70, 5,821-yard Onion Creek Original Course with 36 holes on Monday (Apr. 1) and a final round on Tuesday (Apr. 2). Head Coach John Andrews' women's team had three tournament runner-up finishes in the fall and recently collected its first win of the season with a come-from-behind effort at the Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on Mar. 11-12. The Jaguars trailed by six shots after a first round 333, but rebounded to shoot 304 over the final 18 holes to claim an eight-shot victory. Senior Lauren Kuss lost medalist honors in a playoff, but finished with an 11-over 155 (79-76) and classmate Jordan Woods was fourth at 156 (84-72).

Sophomore Yuri Otsuka also earned a top 10 finish by shooting 160 (83-77).

Midyear addition Ana Fernandez de Mesa has been the team's top performer this spring, posting an 81.5 stroke average in 10 competitive rounds. Behind her, Kuss has a 81.75 mark in eight rounds and Otsuka has carded an 83.0 stroke average in three tournaments.

For the year, Kuss leads the team at 78.94 and Otsuka and Woods are tied for second at 79.44. As a team, the Jaguars come in with a team scoring average of 318.67 through 18 rounds.

The Jaguars will return to Texas on Apr. 22-24 to Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club for The Summit League Championships.
