INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time this season, the IUPUI softball team will play at home when the Jaguars open Summit League action on Friday, March 15, against South Dakota State.

On Friday, the Jags and Jackrabbits will play a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The final game of the series will take place on Saturday, March 16, with the first pitch being thrown at Noon ET.

IUPUI is coming off an impressive 3-1 showing last weekend at the Mizuno Invitational in Riverside, Calif. While on the west coast, the Jags defeated tournament host UC-Riverside in the opener, before downing Buffalo and splitting a pair of games against Southern Utah.

During the four-game west coast swing, Ali Mosier was the Jags leading run producer driving in 11 runs in four games. Mosier batted .375, and hit two home runs in a 10-2 win over Buffalo, tying the school record for most home runs in a game.

The Jags also received production from Morgan Schlobohm, who hit .500 for the weekend and owned an on-base percentage of .583.

In the circle, Cassie Vodde picked up all three of the wins last weekend and she went the distance in two of the three victories. After earning the win in relief against UC-Riverside, Vodde went seven innings against Buffalo giving up six hits and two earned runs while striking out three. She finished the tournament with another complete-game performance against former Summit League foe Southern Utah in which she struck out three yielding just one run. For the weekend, the freshman posted a 1.08 ERA in 16.2 innings of work.

SDSU comes into the weekend with a record of 8-13. Most recently, the Jackrabbits spent six days in California taking on Seattle, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego and posted a 2-5 record against the west coast schools.

Devon Reick leads the South Dakota State offense with a .437 average through 21 games. Reick owns an on-base percentage of .497 and she is also 6-of-7 in stolen bases. Elyse Eitel is the Jackrabbits' leading run producer with 13 RBIs on the season.

Jennifer Sutton leads SDSU on the mound with a team-best ERA of 3.81 and she has posted a 3-3 record.

This weekend will be the first meeting between the two programs since the 2011 season. Both teams were scheduled to play the final weekend of the regular-season last year but all three games in Brookings, S.D., were cancelled due to inclement weather.
