JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - The IUPUI men's golf team opened its spring slate on Monday (Mar. 11), carding an opening round 302 at the Benbow Invitational at the par-71 Jacksonville Beach Golf Club and is tied for sixth heading into Tuesday's final round. Florida Atlantic leads the 14-team field at 289 and Bethune-Cookman is second at 295.
Evansville (296), Savannah State (297) and Cleveland State (298) rounded out the tournament's top five.
Sophomore
Santiago Ruiz and freshman
Austin Winings paced the Jaguars on Tuesday, both shooting 4-over 75's. The Jaguars balanced lineup also got 5-over 76's from junior
Rob van de Vin and freshman
Jordan Lenard and an 80 from sophomore
Cole Adams.
Ruiz and Winings are tied for 23rd among the 87-player field and van de Vin and Lenard are tied for 29th. Savannah State teammates Ryan Lassiter and Travis Roe lead the field after both shooting even par 71 on Monday.
Senior
Matt Bruce topped IUPUI's four individual entries on Monday, shooting 79 and freshman
Tyler Davis registered an 80.
