BATAVIA, Ohio - The IU Indianapolis men's golf team is tied atop the leaderboard at this week's NKU Jewell Invitational after rounds of 289 and 283 at Elks Run Golf Course. The Jags were tied for third after the opening round 289 and followed with a 1-under 283 in the afternoon.
Junior
Titus Boswell led the way with a 1-under 70 in the morning round and was joined in the scoring four by round of even par from both
Keaton Parmley and
Preston Broce. Junior
Brady Schier shot 6-over 77 to cap the opening round 289. Senior
Noah Kirsch shot 7-over 78 to round out the group, which included an eagle on the par-5, 517-yard No. 3. Parmley had four birdies in his opening round while Boswell, Broce and Schier had three birdies apiece.
Schier shouldered the load in round two with a 3-under 68 while Kirsch shot 2-under 69. Schier got under par with three straight birdies midway through his round while Kirsch made eagle on No. 3 for a second straight round.
Parmley shot 1-over 72 and Boswell closed at 3-over 74.
Broce chimed in with a second round 80 while freshman
Jack Scudder topped the individual entries with a second round, 5-over 76.
The Jaguars are tied with Detroit Mercy atop the leaderboard at 572 while fellow Horizon League foe Oakland is third at 578. Individually, UDM's Bavake Sihota and Mason Sokolowski are tied atop the leaderboard at 2-under 140 while Oakland's Rakshit Dahiya is third at even par 142. Parmley is among four players tied for fourth at 1-over 143.
As a team, the Jaguars were one of five teams to make 28 birdies on the tournament's opening day, led by Schier's nine.
Tuesday's final round is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
