SOFTBALL HEADS TO BUTLER FOR THURSDAY DOUBLEHEADER

Jags and Bulldogs meet at 3 p.m. at the Butler Softball Field

INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a 3-1 win over Southern Utah in its series finale on Sunday, the IUPUI softball team looks to build off that momentum when it takes on local rival Butler on Thursday, April 12, in mid-week doubleheader at the Butler Softball Field. The doubleheader is set to begin at 3 p.m.

IUPUI went 1-3 last week, which included a loss at Purdue and a pair of two-run losses to Southern Utah. However, the Jaguars regrouped and responded with a 3-1 win to close out the series with the Thunderbirds thanks to great performances from Nikki Thomas and Ashley Seering.

Seering led the Jags at the plate for the week hitting .444 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Butler comes into the week with a 13-22 record, but eight of those 13 wins have come in the last 10 outings. Meaghan Sullivan leads the team with a .340 average, while Lauren McNulty is tied for the team lead in home runs (3) and is the outright leader in RBI (16).

In the circle, the Bulldogs own a team ERA of 3.06.

IUPUI and Butler met earlier this season in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Woo Pig Classic and the Bulldogs used a complete game from Leah Pry, which included 11 strike outs, to earn a 5-1 victory.
