Both starting pitchers kept the opposing offenses off-balance through four innings giving up just one hit each, except for North Dakota State’s hit came in the fourth inning and went for a home run placing it on top 1-0 at the midway point.

After IUPUI went down in order in its half of the fourth, NDSU struck again in the fourth. This time, the Bison used a RBI single and a three-run homer to plate four runs widening their lead to 5-0.

The Jags picked up lead-off singles in both the fifth and sixth innings, but nothing came of the early threats. Meanwhile, NDSU belted its third home run of the game, a solo shot in the sixth, to open a 6-0 advantage.

IUPUI put a runner on in the seventh, but a foul out ended the game securing the 6-0 Game 1 win for North Dakota State.

Coming off a tough Game 1 loss, IUPUI got off to a rocky start in Game 2 with NDSU taking a 2-0 lead behind a two-run homer before the Jaguars took their first swings.

Unfortunately for the Jags, things got worse in the third when the Bison scored seven runs on five hits and a pair of IUPUI errors, which included a grand slam, to push their lead to 9-0.

NDSU tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth innings moving the score to 11-0, which was the score at the end of the fifth ending the game.

IUPUI picked up just two hits, one coming from Eryn Dillon in the first, and Megan Cory in the fifth.

The Jaguars and Bison conclude their three-game set on Saturday, March 17, with the first pitch set to be thrown at Noon ET.
