INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI sophomore
Yuri Otsuka turned in a career-best 147 (76-71) in helping the Jaguars finish third among the 11-team field at this week's Butler Fall Invitational, played at the par-70 Highland Country Club near the BU campus. Bowling Green won the tournament at 600 (300-300) while Bradley was second at 613 (305-308).
IUPUI placed third at 617 (305-312), five shots ahead of Indiana State.
Otsuka was brilliant on Tuesday (Oct. 9), matching her career-low round at 71 to give her a second-place finish. Senior
Jordan Woods also earned a top 10 finish, closing the event at 154 (75-79).
Sophomore
Kelli Witt continued to make the most of her first-ever starting lineup appearance, finishing tied for 26th at 159 (78-81).
Seniors
Jordan Essman and
Lauren Kuss rounded out the Jaguars' quintet at 160 (76-84) and 162 (81-81), respectively. Sophomore
Lauren Mains paced IUPUI's three individual entries, finishing 44th at 167 (84-83).
Bradley's Danielle Lemek earned medalist honors at 4-over 144 after shooting back-to-back 72's. BGSU had three players shoot 151 to dominate the leaderboard, winning the tournament by 13 shots.
The Jaguars' busy fall slate will continue on Oct. 22-23 when IUPUI sends split-squads two different directions. One group will play at the Santa Clara Colby Invitational at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, Calif. while the other group will head to the UD Invitational at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
