INDIANAPOLIS - After a disappointing 2012 debut, sophomore
Cole Adams rebounded in a major way, taking second-place at this week's Butler Fall Invitational being played at the par-70 Highland Country Club on the city's near Northside. Adams shot a 36-hole 1-over 141 to earn runner-up honors, finishing three shots back of Butler's Andrew Wegeng.
Butler won the five-team event at 570 while Green Bay was second at 582. Evansville was third at 590 while IUPUI came in at 591 (293-298). Creighton rounded out the field, shooting 297 on Monday (Oct. 8) before withdrawing on Tuesday (Oct. 9).
Similar to Monday, Tuesday's play was delayed at the start for nearly three hours due to frost and cold temperatures. Once play did get underway, it was Adams that continued to excel, shooting the fifth-lowest 36-hole score in school history at 141 (70-71) while playing as an individual.
Classmate
Santiago Ruiz joined him in the top 10, tying for sixth at 145 (70-75). Junior
Rob van de Vin tied for ninth at 146 (74-72) while freshman
Bryce Very was 11th at 147 (72-75).
Freshman
Austin Winings had IUPUI's last countable score on Tuesday at 76 to close at 153 (77-76) and senior
Matt Bruce placed 30th at 162 (77-85).

Jordan Lenard and
Jay Holderman also asserted themselves well. Lenard shot 148 (74-74) to take 12th-place while Holderman finished 18th in his collegiate debut at 151 (75-76).
Host Butler dominated the event, placing its entire five-man lineup among the top 13 including three players in the top six.
