KETTERING, Ohio - Junior Rob van de Vin is tied for second after 18 holes among the 100-player field as the IUPUI men's golf team opened play at the Dayton Fall Invitational at NCR South on Monday (Oct. 22). Collectively, IUPUI is tied for ninth among the 18-team field after shooting an opening round 305.

IPFW and Western Kentucky lead the field at 295 and host Dayton is third at 296. Play will conclude with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.

van de Vin shot an opening round 1-under 70 and was one of eight players to make at least four birdies on Monday. As a team, IUPUI's 13 birdies were second among the field, but the Jaguars struggled to make par up and down the lineup.

Freshman Jordan Lenard is tied for 20th after shooting 4-over 75 and both Cole Adams and Tyler Davis shot 80 on Monday. Sophomore Santiago Ruiz capped the Jaguars' lineup with an 11-over 82.

Adams was among the field's best players on the three par-5's, making birdie on all three. The Connersville-native made back-to-back birdies on holes five and six and later made birdie on the par-5, 548-yard No. 10.

Oakland's Nick Cunningham leads the field after firing an opening round 4-under 67. Oakland is tied for fifth and four shots off the lead.
