NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The IUPUI women's golf team capped play at the 16-team Yale Fall Intercollegiate on Sunday, placing fifth among the field at 935 after a final round 316. Harvard won the event at 894 and Longwood was second at 910. 

Collectively, IUPUI smashed its previous 54-hole record by nearly 50 shots.

Senior Kristi O'Brien placed eighth overall at 224, highlighted by first and third round 72's. Her 224 easily set a new school record, bettering the previous mark set by Kellie Marshall during the 2007-08 season by 10 strokes. O'Brien's previous best 18-hole score was 73, both of which came at the CSU Cougar Classic last fall.

Junior Jordan Woods finished 30th overall at 236 (77-82-77) and classmate Jordan Essman was one shot off her pace at 237 (74-77-86).

Senior Melanie Pray had a consistent 242 (80-81-81) and junior Lauren Kuss rounded out the lineup at 242 (85-78-87).

IUPUI finished the tournament in front of an opponent from ACC and two BIG EAST foes. The Jaguars edged by Brown by just one shot to hold fifth-place, 10 back of host Yale University. 

The Jaguars' busy week will continue when they head to the Chi-po Classic at The Course at Aberdeen in Valparaiso, Ind. on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 19-20).
