Game One - Box Score
FORT WAYNE - IUPUI split in the team's final two games on Sunday winning game one 8-7 and dropping game two 2-1.
After building a 4-0 lead early, IUPUI (15-32, 9-14 Summit) squandered the lead but Alicia Brewer's three-run home run in the seventh helped the Jaguars to an 8-7 victory.
Brewer's home run came after Chelsie Hale was hit by a pitch and Leah Prewitt singled to begin the inning. IUPUI built its 4-0 lead in the third inning. A single by Jessica Lam and two errors led to the first two runs of the game. Leah Prewitt cracked a two-run home run to make the game 4-0.
The two home runs gave IUPUI 38 homers for the season, breaking IUPUI's single-season school record of 37.
The Mastodons (28-13-1,16-8 Summit) came roaring back with two in the third off starting pitcher Jocelyn Oppenhuis. IUPUI scored an unearned run in the fifth inning when Amy Raker doubled plating pinch runner Brandi Lawson.
Ashleigh Bousquet hit a three-run bomb to tie the game at five and the Mastodons took their first lead of the game in the sixth inning when Alex Bousquet singled home Hopwood.
Nikki Thomas (7-13) came in to shut the door and picked up the win after Brewer's three-run homer gave the Jaguars the lead for good.
Lam, Prewitt, Brewer and Raker each had two hits in game two.
Game Two - Box Score
Despite a well pitched game by Thomas (7-14), IUPUI couldn't muster enough offense to complete the sweep losing 2-1. The freshman allowed just two earned runs in 5.1 innings of work while fanning six.
Prewitt continued her hot hitting leading off the second inning with a single. Brewer singled and eventually scored when Raker hit in to a fielder's choice.
Cassie Wolfe singled to knot the game at 1 in the bottom of the third inning. Hopwood's solo home run in the fifth inning made the difference in the game.
The Jaguars best scoring chance came in the sixth inning, but with runners on first and second and two outs Prewitt popped out to short to end the frame.
IUPUI managed just four hits against Megan Flenniken, who threw a complete game while striking out four.
