5/2/2011 3:10:05 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI softball team steps out of their Summit League schedule to square off against Loyola in Chicago on Tuesday.

IUPUI (13-30, 8-12 Summit) was swept in a doubleheader by UMKC dropping the first game 9-0 in five innings and losing an 8-6 heartbreaker in eight innings. The Jaguars were washed out of the series finale on Sunday

The Jaguars managed only three hits in game one, two of which were doubles by Kelsey Rupert. In game two, senior Chelsie Hale and freshman Angela Bartucci connected on home runs. Hale's home run was her eighth and it tied her for the team lead with Alicia Brewer.

Junior Leah Prewitt is leading the team hitting .303. She has walked a school-record 27 times this season.

Nikki Thomas has been the team's top pitcher posting a 4.55 earned run average while striking out over a batter per inning. Her 150 strikeouts is also a single-season school record.

Loyola (23-23, 13-7 Horizon)

The Ramblers had trouble scoring runs this past weekend losing two of three to Butler. Loyola scored three runs the entire weekend.

Loyola is led by Brooke Andresen and Lauren Arceneaux offensively. Andresen's .317 average slightly edges Arceneaux's .313, but Arceneaux's 23 RBI are a team-high. She also leads the team with 17 steals and has only been caught twice. Sisters Jacqueline and Jenna Grim have each pounded seven home runs.

Live stats will be available on IUPUIjags.com through Loyola's website.
