CEDAR CITY, UTAH - The IUPUI softball team travels to Southern Utah to play a three-game series with the Thunderbirds. The series begins with a Friday night game scheduled to begin at 6 pm. A doubleheader will be played Saturday beginning at 2 pm.

IUPUI broke a 10-game losing streak with a doubleheader sweep of South Dakota State last Saturday. The Jaguars (12-26, 7-8 Summit) took game one 14-6 in five innings and game two 5-0. IUPUI couldn't finish the sweep falling 6-4 in the finale on Sunday.

Prewitt hit .500 for the week with three home runs. Her sizzling week brought her batting average to .294, tops on the squad.

Freshman Nikki Thomas looks to break Samantha Bumbaugh's single season strikeout of 140. The freshman sits at 134 six away from the current mark.

Southern Utah (20-24, 10-5 Summit) lost two of three at Oakland last weekend. Aly Daniels is the team's leading hitter at .301. She added four home runs.

Darleen Fernandez has supplied the power for the Thunderbirds with eight home runs and 32 RBI. Haylee Hoch and Madison Resley have each driven in 23 runs.

Heather Black and Danielle Axe have done the majority of the pitching for Souther Utah. Black is 14-11 with a 3.18 earned run average and has fanned 136 in 160.2 innings of work. Axe has a 4.30 ERA with a 4-9 record.
