OMAHA, Neb. - The IUPUI offense went stagnant in a 7-0 loss in the opening game of a three-game series against North Dakota State at Claussen-Westgate Field on Friday evening.
Bison pitcher Whitney Johnson stifled the Jaguars (10-19, 5-5 Summit) all game long. She threw a complete-game shutout giving up just two hits while fanning 13.
Leah Prewitt's single in the fourth inning and Chelsie Hale's infield single in the sixth were the only two Jaguar hits.
North Dakota State got on the board with a run in the first, two in the third and took a four-run lead on a home run by Taylor Mortensen.
The Bison (13-21, 3-4 Summit) continued the scoring with three more in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.
Nikki Thomas took the loss for IUPUI. The freshman struggled going six innings giving up 12 hits and five earned runs.
IUPUI will square off against North Dakota State in a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 1 PM.
