IUPUI TRAVELS TO CLEVELAND STATE FOR DOUBLEHEADER

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The IUPUI softball team travels to Cleveland State for a doubleheader scheduled to begin Tuesday at 3 PM. The games will be at Viking Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

IUPUI (10-16, 5-4 Summit) comes in losers of four of its last five games, two of which came at the hands of conference rival Western Illinois last weekend. Valparaiso swept the Jaguars in a doubleheader last Tuesday.

IUPUI's only win in the last five games was a 24-20 affair against the Leathernecks. Alicia Brewer had three home runs on the weekend and upped her batting average to .320. Brewer and Chelsie Hale each have six home runs to lead the team. Joy Perry tied the school record for hits in a game in game one of Saturday's doubleheader going 5-for-6.

Brandi Lawson still leads the Jaguars batting .365.

Cleveland State (13-10, 2-1 Horizon)

The Vikings have won four of their last six and are fresh off a series win against Wright State this weekend.

Offense

Dara Toman leads the Vikings hitting .309 and has 13 RBI. Jessica Burt has driven in 10 runs and Tess Sito is second on the team hitting .284. Sito comes in with a team-high 10 steals.

Pitching

Sito has made 18 of 23 starts and sports a 2.26 ERA. She has fanned 121 batters in 119 innings of work. More often than not, when she starts the game, she finishes it. She completed 11 of 16 starts and has five shutouts to her credit.
