INDIANAPOLIS – Playing its second Mid-American Conference opponent in three days, the IUPUI men's tennis team was unable to salvage a weekend split falling to the University of Toledo, 6-1, Sunday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Jaguars to 1-8 on the season, while Toledo improved to 7-4.

The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles duos for the Jaguars fell by scores of 8-4 and 8-3, respectively, clinching the doubles point for the Rockets. In No. 3 doubles, Dan Klingenberg and Ivan Mojsejev inched closer to a victory but a break proved to be the difference as the two fell, 8-6.

Toledo carried the momentum from the doubles point into singles action as Mojsejev and Nick Volz each dropped straight sets decisions, with Mojsejev losing by identical 6-1 scores and Volz falling 6-0, 6-1.

IUPUI got on the board at the No. 3 singles spot courtesy of a come-from-behind win from Klingenberg.
After dropping the first set, 6-2, Klingenberg returned the favor with a 6-3 second-set win over Bryant Dudzik. A see-saw tiebreaker ensued to determine the winner and Klingenberg needed a few extra points to get the job done, but he downed Dudzik, 12-10, to pick up his second singles win of the season.

Joel Modesitt looked to continue the momentum gained by Klingenberg but he sustained a pair of close set losses falling to UT's Leo Sarria 7-6, 7-5, securing the win for the Rockets.

Bren Vasalakis and Joe Hammond were pegged at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively, but a 6-0, 6-3 loss from Vasalakis coupled with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat to Hammond closed out the 6-1 Jaguars loss.

IUPUI is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when it hosts Detroit at 6 p.m.
