Facing a pair of Big Ten Teams in one day, the IUPUI men's tennis team dropped a pair of decisions to Purdue and Indiana on Saturday as the Jags fell to 0-3 on the season.

Nick Volz captured the lone point of the day securing a win in the No. 2 singles match on Saturday morning against Purdue.

In the first match of the day at Purdue, the Boilermakers took the coveted doubles point despite some resistance from the Jaguars. Dan Klingenberg and Ivan Mojsejev hung with Purdue's top doubles team, but fell 8-5, before the Boilermakers captured the second and third doubles matches by scores of 8-3 and 8-1, respectively.

The Boilermakers carried the momentum from the doubles matches into singles play, but Volz scored the Jaguars lone point of the match  with a win in No. 2 singles over Purdue's Eric Ramos.

Volz got off to a strong start winning the opening set, 6-4, but Ramos battled back to win the second set, 6-3, sending the match to a tiebreaker.

Volz returned to form and dominated in the tiebreaker winning by a 10-3 margin to secure IUPUI's lone point.

In No. 5 singles action, Joel Modesitt overcame a 7-5 defeat in the opening set with a 7-5 second-set win. In the tiebreaker, Modesitt was neck-and-neck with Jan-Frans Englebrecht, but Englebrecht was able to secure to narrow 10-7 win in the tiebreaker.

Against the Hoosiers, Klingenberg and Mojsejev fell by a score of 8-5 in doubles action, marking the tightest of the three matches.

In singles play, Mojsejev put together the best showing falling 6-3, 6-4 to Josh MacTaggert.

The Jags continue play on Sunday, Jan. 23, when they open their home season against SIU-Edwardsville at 11 a.m
