PEORIA, Ill. - Five Jaguars were able to win two singles matches at the 2010 Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational, hosted by Bradley University on Saturday and Sunday.
Nick Volz was able to finish second at No. 2 singles defeating Bradley's Juan Diego Cuadrado 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (13) and Depauw's Michael Rardon in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Dan Klingenberg had a chance to win No. 3 singles. He finished 2-1 in his matches, squeaking out victories over Depauw's Noah Swiler 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (4) and Bradley's Arthur Romanet 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (7). He dropped the decisive match against Wisconsin-Green Bay's Christoph Hopfe 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 1 singles, Ivan Mojsejev was able to hold his own going 2-2 defeating Eastern Illinois' Jamie Firth 6-1, 6-0 and Depauw's Hunter Schouweiler 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (13)
Chase Emerson and Joe Hammond each won two matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Emerson and Hammond teamed up in doubles action posting a 2-2 record, good enough to tie for second in No. 3 doubles.
Mojsejev and Klingenberg played No. 1 singles for the Jaguars and went 2-2 . The duo defeated Green Bay's Fabian Gogolin and Henning Jess 8-3 and Eastern Illinois' Jamie Firth and Matysas Hilgert 8-3.
The men's team will continue its fall season next weekend (Sept. 17) in Bloomington at the Hoosier Invitational.
