INDIANAPOLIS - IPFW's Courtney Cronin took a no-hitter two outs deep into the fifth inning and tossed a four-hit shutout as the visiting Mastodons knocked off IUPUI 3-0 in the three-game series finale on Saturday. Sophomore Joy Perry broke up the no-hitter with an infield hit in the fifth and finished the game 2-for-3.

Sophomore hurler Samantha Bumbaugh was on top of her game for the Jaguars, yielding just three runs on six hits in the defeat.

IPFW (26-17, 15-6 Summit) went ahead 1-0 in the third inning when Sara Hopwood singled to right-center, plating Amber Pierce from second base. That proved to be enough for Cronin, who allowed just two baserunners in the first four innings.

IUPUI (14-36, 9-12 Summit) finally showed life in the fifth when Perry beat out a ground ball to the hole at short with two outs to break up the no-no. Freshman Sydney Miller followed with a solid single to left, but Kelsey Rupert grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

In the sixth, IPFW added some insurance when Cassie Wolfe blasted her third homer of the series, plating Cronin in front of her on the two-run jack.

IUPUI put up a fight in the seventh before falling. With two outs, senior Laura Wilcox bounced a single back up the middle and moved to second on Perry's single to center. Miller then worked a walk to load the bases, setting the table for Rupert. Rupert quickly fell behind in the count 0-2, but battled back before grounding out sharply to third base to end the game.

Seven different players accounted for the 'Dons seven hits in the win. Cronin (17-9) struck out four and walked one in her second shutout of the series. Bumbaugh fanned five and Amy Raker worked a scoreless seventh inning in relief.

IUPUI will return to action next weekend when it heads to Louisiana to play Centenary in a three-game set. Game one is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST on Friday in Shreveport.
