NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The IUPUI softball team collected its first win of the spring with a 4-2 victory at Tennessee State as part of the Play It Again Sports APSU Classic on Saturday. The Jaguars dropped their evening rematch with Northern Iowa, 7-2.
Seniors
Laura Wilcox and

After a slow start offensively, IUPUI (1-3) took advantage of some TSU mistakes to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Ettl erased sophomore

Leah Prewitt ground ball to third, giving the Jags the lead.
The host Tigers hung a two-spot in the bottom half of the inning, but IUPUI immediately answered in the top of the fifth. Junior
Chelsie Hale led off with a walk and Wilcox blasted a homer to left, making it 3-2. The Jags added insurance in the sixth when
Alicia Hayes doubled and later scored on a wild pitch.
Hayes and Wilcox both went 2-for-3 at the dish while Raker got the win by scattering six hits over four innings work. Rookie
Jocelyn Oppenhuis tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen for her first collegiate save.
In game two, UNI (8-1) roughed up a trio of IUPUI hurlers including scoring five times in the first three innings on way to the 7-2 win. Jen Larsen went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the victors and Courtney Dunker added three RBI.
Ettl provided a highlight when she led off the sixth inning with a solo homerun and

Keshia Head in the seventh to provide IUPUI's offense. Jaye Hutcheson (3-1) got the win, fanning five in a complete game effort.
Oppenhuis (0-1) was tagged with the loss as she allowed three runs (two earned) in two innings work.
