ATHENS, Ga. - The IUPUI softball team capped its three-day stay in Athens with a 15-3 six-inning loss to Ball State at the Sixth Annual Georgia Softball Classic on Sunday morning. The Cardinals used two huge rallies to roll past the Jaguars in both team's fifth game of the event.

Ball State (2-3) designated player Allie Pennock went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to key the offense. IUPUI (1-8) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Amy Raker led off with a single and was lifted for pinch runner Kristine Grohnke. Grohnke stole second and later scored on Stacy Harte's first double of the season.

The IUPUI lead was simply an afterthought by the top of the third though as Ball State sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run outburst. Pennock had a two-run triple to start the scoring and Kate Wilczynski later drilled a bases loaded three-bagger to make it 7-1.

The Jaguars got a single run back in the bottom half after Mia Ettl doubled and came home on a Jessica Huey infield hit.

The game stayed at 7-2 until BSU sent 13 batters to the dish in sixth, scoring eight runs off a pair of IUPUI hurlers.

Raker (0-3) took the loss in the circle as she allowed 14 runs (all earned) and 11 hits in 5.1 innings work. She walked seven and fanned two in defeat.

Elizabeth Milian (2-1) struck out five in the six inning victory.

Senior Cayleigh Harvey extended her hitting streak to five straight games with a one-out triple in the sixth and later scored on a Raker ground out.

IUPUI returns to action next weekend when it takes part in the Louisville Red & Black Tournament at Ulmer Stadium. The Jaguars are scheduled to face Miami (Ohio) twice, sandwiched around a game against No. 22 Louisville on Saturday.
