ITHACA, N.Y. -- Looking to snap an early-season funk, the IUPUI women's basketball will take on Cornell on Tuesday evening. Tip-off from Newman Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and Scott Taylor will have the call of the game on IUPUIJags.com.
IUPUI (0-3) has been plagued by turnovers as they seek a cohesive lineup, averaging 21 turnovers per game. However, the Jaguars may have turned a corner in their last game, committing just 16 miscues while three different IUPUI players finished the game with 10 or more points. It was the first time all season that the Jags had put more than one player into double figures, giving IUPUI a much more balanced look.
Kerah Nelson has led the Jaguars with 13.7 points per game, trying to fill some of the void left by the injured
Julia Whitted.
Jessica Huffman is posting nearly 10 points per game, giving IUPUI an inside-outside punch with Nelson and
Clara Mitchell.
Cornell (2-2) was just in the Midwest, competing at the Maggie Dixon Classic at DePaul University in Chicago; the Big Red went 1-1 at the tournament, scoring 92 points in a 92-73 rout of Tennessee State on Saturday. Lauren Benson dished out 12 assists, setting a new school record in the win.
Last year, the Jaguars defense stifled the Big Red, forcing Cornell into 23 turnovers as IUPUI took a 66-57 win at The Jungle on Nov. 22, 2008.
