Game 1 I
Game 2
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Jaguars rapped out a season-high nine hits in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader at Purdue, but left nine runners stranded as the Boilers rolled to a 6-1 victory. In the nightcap, Purdue coasted to a 10-0 five inning win behind pitching ace Suzie Rzegocki.
Game #1 - Purdue 6, IUPUI 1
Game one saw IUPUI starter
Jessica McGown get off to a strong beginning, keeping the Purdue bats silenced over the first two innings. The hosts finally broke through in the bottom of the third when Kelly Miller bounced a two-run single up the middle, scoring Ashley Hall and Tara Palmer.
The Jaguars cut Purdue's lead in half in the top of the third inning against Purdue starter Dana Alococer.
Amanda Mackey set the table by drawing a leadoff walk and moved to second on
Amy Raker's single to left. Senior
Jenny Boyts moved both runners up with a sacrifice bunt with the No. 5 hitter coming to the plate.
Junior
Cayleigh Harvey came through in the clutch, scoring Mackey with an infield single, but the Jags offense went stagnant from there. Alococer got a ground out and fly out to escape further damage.
The Purdue offense wasted little time in getting back to business though as Kelsey Haupert led off with a single and Katie Mitchell followed with her fourth homer of the season.
The IUPUI offense stranded six runners over the final three innings and the Boilers added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Stacy Harte and
Mia Ettl had two hits each for the Jaguars and seven of the nine starters had hits. Miller was 3-for-4 from the No. 2 spot in Purdue's batting order.
Alococer (14-6) struck out three and walked one in the win. McGown (0-3) got the complete game in the circle for IUPUI and fanned two.
Game #2 - Purdue 10, IUPUI 0 (5 inn.)
In game two, the Boilers victimized a trio of IUPUI (1-14) pitchers for 10 runs and nine hits while allowing the Jags just one hit in the 10-0 victory.
Purdue jumped in front 1-0 with an unearned run against Raker, making her fifth start of the season. In the second inning, the Boilers sent eight batters to the plate and scored three times against Raker and reliever
Lea Corcoran.
Candace Curtis had the big blow of the inning, lacing a two-run single to right.
In the third, Purdue (25-10) hung a six spot on the scoreboard, making the score 10-0. Ashley Barr had a bases loaded double off
Sierra VanDeKeere, plating two runs.
Barr finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and Miller was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Raker had IUPUI's lone hit of the game, her fifth double of the season, in the fourth inning. In fact, the Jags loaded the bases against Suzie Rzegocki (10-4) in the fourth, but were unable to push across a run.
Rzegocki struck out seven and walked four in the complete game victory. Raker (0-5) took the loss, retiring just four batters and allowing five hits and four runs (two earned).
