Game 1 I Game 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior Jenna Crockett became just the second player in IUPUI history to crack two homers in a game as the Jaguars handed UMKC a 6-1 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at Cleveland Park on Friday afternoon. The host Kangaroos bounced back with a 9-1 six-inning win in the nightcap as the same two teams will complete the three-game set tomorrow afternoon.

The only other IUPUI player to hit two long balls in the same game was 1994 Hall of Fame inductee Judy Cummings, who accomplished the feat against St. Mary's of the Woods on Mar. 31, 1981.

Game #1 - IUPUI 6, UMKC 1
The Jaguars ran its modest Summit League win streak to three straight games with an easy 6-1 win over the 'Roos in the opener as sophomore Jessica McGown got the win in the circle.

IUPUI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning against UMKC starter Taya Upkes, keyed by Cayleigh Harvey's two-run double.

After the hosts scraped a run off the lead in the bottom half of the third, Crockett began her power binge in the fifth inning. The Jags third baseman launched a solo shot, her third of the season, to make it 4-1 against Upkes.

She ended her night with a two-run shot off UMKC reliever Samantha Hurst in the top of the second as the ball bounced off the top of the fence on its way out of the yard.

Crockett went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three driven in while Monica Canisales was 2-for-3 for the 'Roos.

McGown (2-9) worked four innings, striking out five and allowing just two hits in the victory. Freshman Amy Raker recorded her second save of the season by working three scoreless innings in relief. Upkes (3-10) tossed five innings, allowing four runs (one earned) before handing the ball to Hurst in the sixth. Hurst, who leads The Summit in strikeouts per seven innings, fanned three in two innings work.

Game #2 - UMKC 9, IUPUI 1 (6 inn.)
In the nightcap, UMKC outhit the Jags 12-3 and cruised to a 9-1 six-inning win. Julie Hartung went 3-for-4 with four runs batted in for the 'Roos as eight of UMKC's nine starters had at least one base knock.

Hurst (4-12) struck out seven IUPUI batters and allowed just three hits in five innings work. IUPUI junior Lea Corcoran (0-3) was saddled with the defeat as she yielded three runs in two innings work. Behind her, the 'Roos got the best of Raker as she allowed the other six runs over the final 3.1 innings of action.

IUPUI's (7-23, 4-13 Summit) lone score came in the fourth when Jenny Boyts reached on a fielder's choice, moved to third on Raker's double to left and later scored on a wild pitch. Two of IUPUI's three hits came during the frame.

In the sixth, the Jags threatened again as Crockett was hit by a pitch, freshman Stacy Harte reached on an error and Cassie Harvey loaded the bases by drawing a walk. Unfortunately, Hurst fanned pinch hitter Sierra VanDeKeere to end the threat.

UMKC (7-24, 5-11) hung a six spot on the Jags in the bottom of the sixth to end the game, capped by Hartung's bases clearing double to center.

The two teams will conclude the three-game set tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for noon.
