IUPUI basketball freshman #Alex Young# earns his second straight Male Student-Athlete of the Month honor after leading the Jaguars to a 4-3 record during the month of December. The 6-foot-5 swingman averaged a team-high 16 points per game to accompany his 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest.

For the season, Young leads IUPUI and all Summit League freshmen in scoring at 15.1 points per contest.

Young scored in double-figures in all seven December outings, including tossing in 19 on two separate occasions. He finished with 18 points and six rebounds in the 67-65 win at Seton Hall on Dec. 20 as the Jaguars gathered their first-ever victory over a BIG EAST opponent. Young also matched his season-high with four threes twice and hit 4-of-6 in the 62-41 pasting of Indiana State at Conseco Fieldhouse on Dec. 23.

Young led IUPUI in scoring in five of the team's seven games and also averaged a team-high 1.4 steals per game for the month. He shot 48 percent from the field and 35 percent from three in his seven starts. 

He also closed the month having scored in double-digits in nine straight games, marking a new freshman record at the Division I level.
