Junior men's basketball player Darell Combs has been named IUPUI's Male Athlete of the Month for January 2016. The sharpshooting guard led IUPUI to a 7-2 record for the month and a share of the lead in The Summit League standings. 

In nine games, Combs averaged a team-high 16.8 points per game to go along with 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. He connected on 49 percent (18-of-37) of his three-point attempts and 45 percent overall from the field. 

He tallied 19 points in the Jan. 1 win at South Dakota and later posted 22 points at Western Illinois on Jan. 9, including hitting 4-of-5 from three-point range. Combs knocked in a team-high 20 points and three steals in a thrilling win at Fort Wayne on Jan. 23. 

For the season, Combs leads the Jaguars in scoring at 16.1 points per game and has a team-high 43 threes made.
