Junior women's basketball player Mikale Rogers has been named IUPUI's Female Athlete of the Month for the month of January 2016. Rogers, an Indianapolis-native, averaged 15.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game, helping the Jaguars to a 6-3 mark in league play. Rogers made 45 percent of her field goal and 86.2 percent (25-of-29) of her free throw attempts.
Rogers had three double-doubles for the month, including a 12-point, 11-rebound effort in a win at Western Illinois on Jan. 9. She later had 26 points against Omaha on Jan. 13 and posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots at South Dakota State on Jan. 21.
She netted a career-high 29 points and 11 boards in the Jaguars double overtime win over Denver on Jan. 28.
For the year, Rogers paces the Jaguars with 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.
