Sophomore women's basketball standout Danielle Lawrence has been named IUPUI's Female Athlete of the Month for the month of February 2016. The Louisville, Ky.-native helped the Jaguars to a 5-2 record for the month, averaging a team-high 16.0 points per game.
Lawrence opened the month with a career-high 34 points and six assists in the victory over Western Illinois on Feb. 6, including knocking down 6-of-8 treys in the win over the Leathernecks. She followed with 21 points in a come-from-behind victory at North Dakota State on Feb. 12.
Lawrence also had double-digit scoring efforts against Omaha (18 pts), IPFW (10 pts) and South Dakota State (16 pts) to close the month. She connected on 46.1 percent of her field goal attempts and 9-of-20 (45 percent) of her three-point attempts for the month. More impressive was her work at the free throw line, where she made 21-of-24 (87.5 percent) attempts in seven games.
In addition to her 16 points per game, Lawrence also averaged 3.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.4 assists per game.
